My Experience:

My trip to Hungary was only a day trip to Budapest that I took with my parents while they were visiting me for Easter Break during my study abroad semester in Vienna. I have always heard that Budapest is so fun and beautiful so I had to go to there. The bus ride was only 2.5 hours from Vienna which was not bad at all.

I did not really enjoy Budapest. I found the city to be quite drab and unappealing. I felt very rushed. I did not even have time to eat the entire day. I did not really have an opportunity to interact with anyone from Hungary either. My cultural immersion in this city was very poor. Additionally, the weather was quite bad and the skies were mostly grey. The only part of Budapest that I enjoyed was the architecture. The Parliament building is absolutely stunning. Another one of my favorite buildings was the Fishermen's Bastion. It looks like a huge sand castle. I was able to look inside one of the thermal baths (Szechenyi). They are extremely expensive to go into though.

I think I would have liked Budapest better if I had more time to spend there. I do not know if I would go back, maybe if time permits.
