My Experience:

My trip to Slovenia took place during my study abroad semester in Vienna. This trip was part of my research project "UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites in Europe." The goal of this trip was to visit the Škocjan Caves. I took a Flixbus from Vienna to Ljubljana. It was easiest to stay in Ljubljana and then travel by train to the caves.

Ljubljana is a cute little city, which surprised me because it is the capital of Slovenia. I did not find much to do in the city but the architecture was interesting to look at. The most famous attractions seemed to be the Dragon Bridge and the Ljubljana castle.

The train systems were down in Ljubljana so I had to take a bus to a train station about 30 minutes away and then board a train to Divača, where I then walked 30 minutes to the Škocjan Caves. We were unfortunately not allowed to take pictures inside the cave but the scenery on my walk and around the cave was gorgeous. I was so immersed in nature.

My last day in Ljubljana was spent going to Lake Bled. This was probably one of my favorite places that I visited in Europe. I could have stayed at Lake Bled for a week. The lake and the scenery is simply gorgeous. It took me about two hours to walk around the lake. People were rowing, paddle boarding, swimming, and boating in the lake. There are also different land activities to do as well. I would love to do a camping trip in the area around Lake Bled.

I really enjoyed my time in Slovenia. I think that Slovenia is a beautiful country with gorgeous nature scenes. I would love to go back soon.
